British Carp Championships
Qualifier at Todber Mannor

After qualifying into the semi finals and finals for the last 6 years it was almost as if we were expected to qualify again this
year.The
field of anglers were the stonger than ever with any team quite capable of qualifying.Once the match started several teams broke away but
we struggled for our first bite but we started to get fish passing through the swim and then we nailed them soon placing us in 3rd place
tactics were Atomic solid Grenade pva bags filled with Hinders Mini Combi and Halibut pellets with trimmed down cell boilies tipped with
fluro corn soaked in Hinders Betalin. On several occasions we were second and at one point we were only a few pounds of 1st but as the
match went on we were battling for the 3rd qualifying spot 2 pairs fishing either end had pulled well clear with an hour of the match
finishing we were comfortably in 3rd when the 5th place pair received some hectic action which saw them knock us into 4th place we needed
a fish of 17lb to take back are spot with 30 minutes left Lee was in to a fish but was it enough on the scales we could not believe it
17lb 3oz we were now back in 3rd place! Ten minutes before the end of the match our hearts sank as we watched the other pair slip the net
under a 13lb fish we received no more action we were totally gutted but thats competition carping and we will be back next for another go!

I have been concentrating on a new water this week and on my second overnighter I managed this stunner this morning before packing up. I lost a good fish at 3 am and then had this fish just before leaving for work. The fish fell to an Atomic solid pva bag fished with a mainline cell boilie with Mainline response pellet and Hinders Mini-combi pellet. The rig was small braided rig with a size 8 claw hook. This was fished at 150yds to showing fish.
